A detail from an untitled work features Cat, Bird, and Tunnels by Martin Ramirez dated 1950

David Zwirner is pleased to participate in TEFAF New York 2022. Their booth will feature significant and historic works from Mickey Cartin’s collection, following the gallery’s exhibition Seen in the Mirror: Things from the Cartin Collection, which was on view at 537 West 20th Street from November to December 2021. Since he began collecting in the 1980s, Mickey Cartin has assembled a remarkable and singular collection of works—including paintings from the last six centuries, drawings, sculptures, illuminated manuscripts, early printed books, artists’ books, and old master prints—that reflects his own expansive curiosity and his interest in the philosophical nuances he often discovers in those works. Cartin’s thoughtful approach to collecting is informed by his fascination with beauty, knowledge, and the miraculous. On view at TEFAF will be works by Josef Albers, Martín Ramírez, Bill Traylor, Albert York, and Joe Coleman, among others.
