David Zwirner is pleased to return to Frieze Seoul 2024.
Highlights include exceptional paintings and sculpture by Yayoi Kusama that feature her signature pumpkin and polka-dot motifs, which have long occupied a central role within the artist's oeuvre.
The booth is presenting important works by the Belgian artist Luc Tuymans. The artist is featured in Portrait of a Collection: Selected Works from the Pinault Collection at SONGEUN Art and Cultural Foundation in Seoul, on view beginning September 4, and he will be the subject of a major retrospective at UCCA Beijing, Luc Tuymans: The Past, opening November 16, that will feature approximately eighty works drawn from the full scope of the artist’s career.
The gallery is presenting historic abstract works by Josef Albers, including one of the earliest 48-by-48-inch paintings from his seminal Homage to the Square series, as well as works by Gerhard Richter, including Abstraktes Bild (Abstract Painting) from 1986, that exemplify the artist’s complex and layered approach to the painted medium.
In addition, the booth is presenting recent works on paper by Elizabeth Peyton, who will have a special site-specific exhibition at the historic Ryosokuin Temple in Kyoto, on view from September 8 to 24. New paintings and watercolor monotypes by Katherine Bernhardt feature iconic characters from pop culture, including Pink Panther, Garfield, Cookie Monster, and E.T. in vibrant compositions.
Also on view are works by Francis Alÿs, Michaël Borremans, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Scott Kahn, Amadeo Luciano Lorenzato, Joan Mitchell, Neo Rauch, Bridget Riley, Robert Ryman, Rose Wylie, and Lisa Yuskavage, among others.
