Pedestrian Space was the first exhibition in ten years of Fred Sandback's work in France. The title refers to the "pedestrian space," as Sandback called it, of everyday life, which the artist explored in sculptures made by stretching lengths of yarn horizontally, vertically, or diagonally to outline planes and volumes in space. The exhibition featured six sculptures made between 1970 and 2002, a series of prints from 1976 entitled Four Variations of Two Diagonal Lines, and a selection of drawings.

This body of work is the focus of the publication Fred Sandback: Vertical Constructions, which includes texts by Yve-Alain Bois, David Gray, and Lisa Le Feuvre. Published by David Zwirner Books
