James Welling: Choreographis Aperture’s latest print publication featuring the artist’s multilayered photography series.

To create this book, Welling photographed dancers performing in New York, Philadelphia, Boston, and Los Angeles, and combined the images with landscapes and architecture. The book presents sixty color plates that reveal the artist’s ongoing experimentation with color photography.

In her accompanying essay, Lisa Hostetler, curator of photographs at the George Eastman Museum, writes, “Welling’s true subject emerges as the photographic enterprise itself—its genres, materials, processes, practices, and history.”

The book is produced in a limited edition of one thousand copies. To purchase a copy, please click here.
