Huma Bhabha Inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Letters

We are pleased to announce Huma Bhabha has been inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Letters alongside eighteen new members and four honorary members during its annual Ceremonial on May 24, 2023. Bhabha is one of four visual artists to be inducted this year. 
 
Bhabha has been the recipient of notable awards, such as The American Academy in Berlin’s Berlin Prize, the Guna S. Mundheim Fellowship (2013), and the Emerging Artist Award from The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Ridgefield, Connecticut (2008). In 2022, Bhabha was elected as a National Academician by the The National Academy of Design, New York. 
 
Current members of the American Academy of Arts and Letters include Josef AlbersSuzan FreconJoan Mitchell, Alice Neel, Robert Ryman, and Richard Serra. Foreign honorary members include Yayoi Kusama, Sigmar PolkeBridget Riley, and Luc Tuymans. 
 
Bhabha’s solo exhibition Livin' Things will open at M Leuven on June 10 and remain on view through October 29. Her well-known androgynous totem figures and monumental drawings will be presented in a custom-made installation by M.
