Fondation Beyeler, Riehen, Switzerland
May 25–August 3, 2025
The Fondation Beyeler is delighted to present the new virtual reality installation Little Room by Jordan Wolfson. This immersive work, which is being shown publicly for the first time at the Fondation Beyeler, invites visitors to immerse themselves in an experimental spatial experience in which they play a central role.
Upon entering the exhibition space, participants are paired with either a stranger or a companion of their own choosing. After a full 3D scan of their bodies, they enter a virtual space where they see themselves through each other's bodies, culminating in increasingly disturbing and disorienting physical and spatial distortions.
Little Room explores the complex intersections of real, virtual and imaginary worlds. Wolfson's work illuminates the darker sides of the human experience while raising existential questions about consciousness and identity. With Little Room, the artist expands the possibilities of virtual reality technology to create a unique encounter that opens up a new perspective on the medium.
The exhibition project is organized by the Fondation Beyeler in collaboration with the LUMA Foundation and supported by the Thomas and Doris Ammann Foundation, the George Economou Collection, the AMA Collection as well as Sadie Coles, Gagosian and David Zwirner.
